School Site Council (SSC)
The School Site Council (SSC) at Davis Magnet Elementary is a group of teachers, parents, administrators and interested community members who work together to develop and monitor our school's improvement and safety plans. The SSC is a legally required decision-making body for any school receiving federal funds. Members of the SSC are elected by their peers (for example, parents elect parent representatives and teachers elect teacher representatives). Throughout the school year, the SSC meets four times, considers the goals of the school and then works with the principal to evaluate the school's progress towards those goals. In this evaluation, the council may consider test scores, attendance and discipline records, and parent and student surveys. Based on the assessment of our goals for the current year, the council works with the principal to create goals for the following year's plan. While only SSC representatives are allowed to vote, all members of the school community are welcome to attend and provide input at SSC meetings. |
