Principal's Message

Dear Davis Community,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! It is my pleasure to welcome both new and returning families to Davis Magnet School. We are proud to serve more than 550 students from preschool through sixth grade who represent families from across the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. Together, we are committed to providing an exceptional educational experience where every student feels a sense of belonging, is challenged to grow, and is inspired to innovate.

As a high-performing STEM magnet school, Davis provides a dynamic learning environment centered on mathematics, engineering, science, and technology. Our dedicated teachers create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that encourage students to think critically, solve authentic problems, collaborate with others, and reach their full potential. We are honored to be consistently recognized as one of the top elementary schools in Newport-Mesa and Orange County—a reflection of the passion, expertise, and commitment of our outstanding staff.

Learning at Davis extends well beyond the classroom. Students have opportunities to participate in enriching programs including band, choir, robotics, Eco Club, Peer Assistance Leadership (PAL), and many other activities that foster creativity, leadership, and service. Our goal is to develop the whole child by nurturing both academic excellence and strong character.

Our school community is guided by five core values:

We also know that our success depends on strong partnerships with our families. Parent involvement is an essential part of the Davis experience, and we are incredibly grateful for the dedication of our PTA and the Davis Magnet School Education Foundation. Their generous support provides enriching programs, innovative learning opportunities, and memorable community events such as Quack to School, Big Bucks for Ducks, and our annual Spring Gala.

This year's theme, Ducks Design the Future, reflects our belief that every student can shape tomorrow through creativity, innovation, and purposeful learning. Throughout the year, students will engage in engineering design challenges, design thinking, and hands-on STEM experiences that emphasize student voice, choice, and academic rigor. They will set meaningful learning goals, collaborate to solve real-world problems, and develop the confidence to become thoughtful innovators and leaders.

Our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program will continue to reinforce the character, responsibility, and collaboration needed for students to make positive choices and contribute to a strong school community. These learning experiences will culminate in our Invention Convention in early 2027, where students will have the opportunity to showcase their creativity, problem-solving skills, and innovative thinking.

At Davis Magnet School, we believe that today's learners are tomorrow's designers, engineers, scientists, and leaders. By encouraging curiosity, resilience, and collaboration, we are preparing students not only for the future—but to help create it.
