DAVIS MAGNET SCHOOL DAILY SCHEDULE

M, T, Th, F: School starts at 8:15am and students are dismissed at 3:00pm.

W: School starts at 8:15am and students are dismissed at 1:20pm for teacher professional development meetings.

If you pick your child up at the front of the school, please place a sign in the front window of your car with your child's name. This will help the teachers on "valet duty" expedite the pick-up process. Please pull as far forward as possible to allow many cars to load at once. Thank you.

Mindy Lemoine

Meet Ms. Lemoine

I am so excited to be part of the Davis Ducks this year! It is a privilege to be part of such an amazing, forward thinking staff and educational community. I have been working hard with the fourth grade team to plan a challenging and exciting program for the upcoming year.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Psychology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. After having my son, I went back to school at Concordia University in Irvine, where I obtained and Multi-subject Teaching Credential and a Master's of Education. This is my eighth year working for the Newport Mesa Unified School District. I have taught kindergarten, first, second and fourth grades.

I grew up in Orange County and currently live in Irvine with my fourteen year old son, cat and dog.

HOMEWORK POLICY

Davis Magnet School has adopted a "minimal" homework policy in which students are expected to read and practice math facts every night. Fourth grade students are required to read for at least thirty minutes each night and practice multiplication math facts for five to fifteen minutes each night. Practicing these skills at home will best prepare students for classroom instruction and learning! Most weeks, students will also practice spelling words for 10 minutes each night to prepare for Friday's Spelling Test.

DON'T FORGET...

Tuesdays and Thursdays:

Students should be sure to wear tennis shoes and bring a water bottle for P.E. each Tuesday and Thursday.

Fridays:

Students need to make sure to bring library books to school each day as they are an integral part of our reading program. It is imperative that they come back each Friday for our Library day.

SCHOOL WIDE INTERNET PROGRAMS/CONNECTIONS

Renaissance Home Connect- Access to the book list of AR tests, monitor student progress towards AR goals, see reports for AR and AM practices and tests.

JiJi Math- Students may work on "worlds" that I have assigned to their homework folder. They will probably not be working on the same skill at home as they are in school.

WE ARE COLLEGE BOUND

Davis Ducks are college bound!! We have adopted my alma mater, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, to represent our classroom and students. We will soon offer an opportunity to order class t-shirts to wear on college shirt day representing Cal Poly. We will use our classroom's college affiliation as an avenue to discuss the benefits as well as the requirements of going to college.
