A NOTE TO PARENTS REGARDING OUR AFTER SCHOOL CLASSES
First and foremost, the Davis After School Academy is an academic enrichment program. The experiences extend classroom learning, approach subject matter in novel ways and often depart from what the students learn in their classes. Because of these things, we want to offer the following guidelines:
• Be sure your child wants to be in the program and is willing to commit the time and attention to complete it. We plan these experiences to be enjoyable, but it is not a recreation program.
• As such, student conduct is similar to the standards set for the classroom. Students who depart from these standards will be given sufficient opportunity to understand the guidelines for conduct. Continued departure from them will be reported to the school office and to you.
• We have designed the schedule to avoid as many conflicts as possible with other after school programs. Please make sure that your child is not enrolled in programs that are running at the same time.
• Enrollment is limited and taken on a first-come-first-served basis. Students who are not enrolled will be placed on a wait list and can participate in future repeats of the experience if offered and as space allows. We will make every effort to accommodate as many students as possible who wish to participate.
• Attendance is important. Much of what students get out of the program will be activities that build from week to week. If your child will not be attending class on a given after school day, please notify the office so that records and instructors are kept up to date.
• It is school policy for you to pick up your child promptly each program day. Students will not be allowed to meet you in the parking lot. Instead, they will be checked out at the door to the room or will be accompanied to another after school program if you have made those arrangements.
